The Joy of Mid Autumn Buffet at Mei San

Mid Autumn goes by with many names Moon Festival, Zhongqiu Festival, 中秋節,  it is also sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival.

Mei San Restaurant at Grand Margherita Hotel

The Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar, which is usually around late September or early October in the Gregorian calendar. It is a date that parallels the autumnal equinox of the solar calendar, when the moon is supposedly at its fullest and roundest. The traditional food of this festival is the mooncake, of which there are many different varieties.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the few most important holidays in the Chinese calendar, the others being Chinese New Year and Winter Solstice, and is a legal holiday in several countries. Farmers celebrate the end of the summer harvesting season on this date. Traditionally on this day, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomelos under the moon together.

Now a days with our hectic lifestyle we may not have time to prepare a nice meal to share amongst our family members and enjoy drinking tea and staring at the moon while talking politics. Mei San restaurant offers great delicacies, starting from yesterday 19th September 2010 till 22nd September (actual day of mid autumn festival for this year). At the price of RM79.00++ per person, its a well worthy treat for the family and friends.

Mei San Restaurant is a pretty old establishment. From my memory it has always provided excellent chinese food. Make no mistake the food there is halal. So even our Muslims are able to enjoy the delicious food there. =)

Well as always I'll let the photos do the talking, people always say I rant too much =)
