Chasing Sunrise

11.04.2012 Its been a long time since I headed off for sunrise shooting. I think the last time I did it was probably 2-3 years ago. When there were plans to go sunrise shooting at Telaga Air, I jumped at the chance to join in.

This was probably 5 mins or less before actual sunrise. HDR photo.

I was trying to duplicate a shot that I saw in an online gallery. Obviously its far from what I want but it is a start.

It was kinda hard trying to shoot this myself. I knew that my gears were not enough. I need more light modifiers. And probably and assitant or two. I was running up and down taking test shots and moving the lights about. Its definately a start.

This happened about three weeks ago, where our South Sarawak Classic Car Club was approached by a reporter who wanted to do a piece on the club. So one thing lead to another and suddenly it was on. Jaffar called me and asked me to drop by, so I did. I called Peter, who initially didnt want to show up. Lucky he did!

Nikon Club Carpenter Street Shoot

I manage to attend the most recent Nikon club event recently (24/03/2012) despide being sick. I managed to walk and shoot for nearly 2 hours. It felt pretty good to get out there and shoot randomly.

It was my first time joining an event organized by Nikon Club. I did sign up for the previous round, but I forgot about it :) So I was not going to miss it this round! Even when I was sick!

Fire walking (running) at Sen Wang Kong Temple

14.03.2012. This event happens once every twelve years at Sen Wang Kong Temple. Even tho I have been living here all my life, it was the first time I heard of it. And my first experience going to such an event.

Everyone turning away from the heat of the flame as the guy added more fuel to the charcoal. It was very hot, when your just standing about 10 feet away.

Old School Convoy TWO Serian

So after the previous Classic Car Convoy, two weeks (11.03.2012) later we all headed out again for ANOTHER convoy. I think because the previous one we didnt get to play much, as the rain was pretty heavy. No one had anychance to show off their rides :P

And after the convoy, we were a CLUB (if you drive a classic, we want you!). Looks like many clubs are getting it on in Kuching these days. Good sign!

Tua Pek Kong Parade

Its a birthday celebration of one of the many dieties that is worshiped by taoist believers. Normally once a year there would be a procession / parade to celebrate the day. Normally I would avoid going squeeze with so many people and try to take photo. Since this year I have not been shooting much after my sports injury I decided, why not.

So I headed down around 6pm. Had dinner with Alvin+Patricia. And walked over to seven-story building. Where there was a large alter prepared.

Classic Car Convoy

Last Sunday a bunch of Classic Car enthusiast gathered to drive up to Telaga Air (about 35 km away from Kuching City). Everyone gathered at RH Plaza before 7am.

It was pretty cloudy when I arrived. There were many VW Beetles and Mini's. Only 1 Toyota Celica when I arrived. I quickly ate kolomee. And started to shoot a few photos. Thinking I would do a nicer cover once I get to Telaga Air.

AirDroid must have app for android users

I have been using Android close to one and a half years now. And there are not many apps (applications) that I cannot say is a MUST have, until I tried AirDroid by Sand Studio. Prior to using AirDroid I have been connecting my device via USB cable to transfer files, or to manage my media. Now I just run the AirDroid application and manage via my web browser. Very clean and easy to use application.

Of course this is under the assumption that you have a WiFi network to begin with.

Chinese New Year 2012 is over!

Last nite was the final night (officially ending Chinese New Year celebrations). Its tradition to have dinner with loved ones and after that, play some fireworks. I had my epic dinner at my uncles place and then went home to find many people are posting photos of fireworks online in facebook. So I decided to shoot some as well. I had some fireworks left lying about from a decade ago, so I gave it a few clicks.

Me trying to be different. Everyone else was shooting the sky and city scape, I'm low on the ground about meters away. So close you can feel the blast.
